You will receive 6 test results:
- Total Cholesterol (TC)
- High Density Lipoproteins (HDL)
- Low Density Lipoproteins (LDL)
- TC/HDL Ratio
- Triglycerides
- Blood Glucose (Non fasting)
What is Cholesterol?
Cholesterol is one of the two fats (good & bad), which circulate in our bloodstream. Although our bodies make some cholesterol, another main source is our food. It is needed for production of cell walls, tissues, hormones and vitamin D. However too much bad cholesterol can clog up your arteries and lead to possible health problems in the future.
What is Blood Glucose?
Blood sugar, or glucose, is a measure of how much sugar is being carried in the blood stream. We all need some glucose as this is what gives us our energy, however too much glucose in the blood may result in a condition known as Type 2 Diabetes.
