Thinking of taking part in our Family Aquathlon but unsure what to expect?
We’ve answered some of your most commonly asked questions..
Do I need to train?
The Family Aquathlon is a fun, engaging event which is not intensive making it inclusive to all abilities. The event includes a 200m swim and 2k run. As it’s a team event at least one team member must swim or run. It’s an event for the whole family to take part in and enjoy together, rather than a competitive race. We won’t be chip timing, though you may choose to record your own time.
All participants must be able to swim 200m to join in. If you want to practice your swimming, see the swim timetables at our excellent facilities Bramcote Leisure Centre and Kimberley Leisure Centre.
What do I need on the day?
- Swim wear / Tri suit
- Goggles (if desired)
- Footwear and clothing for running
- Drinks bottle and snack
How do I book on to the event?
Simply visit https://www.lleisure.co.uk/events/, click on the Family Aquathlon event and enter the quantity of tickets you would like.
What happens on the day?
Register at Reception 30 minutes before the start of the event (you will be given your swimming time slot).
Before you start your swim you will set up your running clothing/equipment for transition within the allocated area. If desired, swimmers can go to the changing rooms to get changed after swimming.
The swim will take place in the main pool and you should arrive by the pool 15 minutes before your start time. The pool manager will call you over before the start of your swim.
After you swim 200m/8 lengths of the 25m pool you will exit the building via the fire exit to proceed to your run. Follow the signs and marshalled course to do your 2k run.
Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
How does the Family Aquathlon impact me?

The event will not take up too much of your time and, the memories will last forever. Participants from last year expressed:

Most importantly, participants voiced that they really enjoyed being able to do something as a family.
