Ang, Fitness Advisor at Bramcote Leisure Centre
How long have you worked here?
I’ve been working for Broxtowe Borough Council and then LLeisure for nearly 18 years! I don’t know where the time has gone but I still love my job.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
I’ve seen so many people through the years, but my answer still remains the same and that’s motivating people and seeing them improve in their fitness.
What do you do in a typical day?
Alongside working in the gym and teaching classes at Bramcote I also have a second job in the mornings teaching in a school.
What work challenges are you looking forward to this year?
At the moment I teach kettlebells and work in the gym, which includes helping customers with their programmes and how to use the kit efficiently and safely. I’m looking to do some spin training later this year.
What’s the best health or fitness advice you’ve been given?
Don’t stretch cold muscles and always stretch after exercise! Fortunately the trend to do lots of static stretches at the start of a workout has changed and the benefits of stretching post-exercise realised.
What advice do you wish you had been given?
Although I’m consistent now; eat regularly and healthily and always have breakfast.
What fitness / exercise do you enjoy doing?
I try and squeeze some daily fitness into my day; whether kettlebells, circuits, running, cycling or swimming. I also like to go walking, mainly when away.
Where could we find you on a day off?
Doing something active and also taking my kids swimming and their clubs. Helping kids do homework! I’m a busy mum so I fit exercise around my 2 jobs and housework.
