Eastwood Writers’ Group will launch their new books at a special event on Saturday 19th November at 1.30pm in the shop at D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum. As well as launching their new books, several members of the group will be showcasing their work and giving readings.
Everyone is welcome to the event, simply pop in! And for those wishing to visit the Birthplace Museum, you will still be able to take a tour; the event would just prove a nice addition to your visit. The book launch event is free, standard admission charges apply for tours of the Birthplace Museum.
The event is also a chance for budding local writers to meet members of the group if they are interested in joining. Eastwood has a long history of cultivating writers, from the time D.H. Lawrence delivered his first paper ‘Art and the Individual’ at his friend Willie Hopkins’ house on Devonshire Drive, and the town is still fertile ground for writers today. Eastwood Writers’ Group meet regularly and new members are always welcome; “Eastwood Writers’ Group has been going for many years, it brings people together and we have a nice couple of hours on a Tuesday,” said member, Evelyn Wharmby.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Interested in hosting your event with us?
The gift shop at the site of the home of Eastwood’s most famous son, D.H. Lawrence, is a perfect place to hold this kind of small scale literary event. There are refreshments available on-site, seating available and a charming private walled garden area at the back. Plus the general flow of museum visitors means that when we have held similar events in the past they have been popular.
